Urgent Call to Action: Improve Street Safety in Phoenix
Act Now: Let’s Reduce Traffic Accidents in Phoenix!
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The safety of our streets in Phoenix is in a dire state, and we need your support to make a change. In 2021 alone, our city experienced a staggering 40,833 car accidents, including 278 fatal accidents resulting in 294 deaths, and 10,879 injury accidents causing injuries to 16,062 people. These numbers are more than just statistics; they represent the lives of our friends, family members, and neighbors who have been forever changed by these incidents.
Beyond the human toll, these accidents also have significant economic impacts. Safer streets lead to reduced public service costs, such as emergency response and medical care, and can contribute to lower car insurance premiums for all residents as insurance companies adjust rates based on overall risk. By investing in street safety, we can create a safer and more affordable environment for everyone in Phoenix.
To address this urgent issue, we need comprehensive measures, including:
1. Effective Traffic Enforcement: Ensuring officers on the street adequately enforce existing laws to deter illegal activity.
2. Traffic Enforcement Cameras: Implementing cameras to deter speeding and running red lights.
3. Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety: Developing and maintaining safe pathways for pedestrians and cyclists.
4. Public Awareness Campaigns: Raising awareness about road safety and responsible driving.
5. Data-Driven Approaches: Using data analytics to identify high-risk areas and tailor interventions.
I have written a letter to Mayor Kate Gallego, urging her to make street safety a top priority. I am calling on you to join me in this crucial effort. By signing on to my letter, you can help amplify our collective voice and push for the necessary changes to protect our community.
Please read and sign the letter here to show your support for safer streets in Phoenix. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our streets are safe for everyone.
Thank you for your support,
Aden Parsons
